I actually went for a walk today! While this might not seem like a monumental accomplishment to most, it definitely was for me. The closest I ever got to playing a sport was "College Bowl" and, let's face it, trivia is pretty anaerobic exercise. So, the fact that I burned some calories today was pretty special. I put on my iPod and went for a short walk around the neighborhood (including a hill! :-)). I used a previously created playlist called, appropriately, "Work Out":
"No Matter What Shape Your Stomach's In" by The T-Bones
"Life Is A Rock (But The Radio Rolled Me)" by Reunion
"Woke Up This Morning" by A3 (Better known as the Sopranos Themesong)
"Take Me To Your Leader" by Newsboys
"The Kids Are All Right" by The Who
"1985" by Bowling For Soup
"Fortunate Son" by Creedance Clearwater Revival
When I got back in the house my muscles were tweaking out, saying "Wait...We didn't sign up for this!" but I felt very good about myself. So, of course, I had to share :-).
Current Music: The Temptations: Emperors of Soul Box Set, Disc 2. There are a lot of great songs on this CD. It includes some of their biggest hits, like "Ain't Too Proud to Beg", but I often skip past those. If you're looking for slightly lesser known hits (Still Top 40 but not Top 5), check out "All I Need" and "Beauty Is Only Skin Deep", plus plenty of other gems.
Current Mood: A few calories lighter...

Speaking of Fortunate Son, did I tell you that Sara, Margaret, and I got to play Rock Band at Eileen's place? So. Awesome. Got me out of my Slayer induced anti- Guitar Hero kick. I'm gonna finish off 2 and 1 before taking another crack at 3. Kinda like a sports movie where the underdog suffers a crushing loss at the hands of a hated rival, trains all season, then comes back to beat them at the end. Cue training montage music. Also, your new walking habit will totally come in handy in Chicago. With your newly toned calves and newly strengthened heart, there's no limit to the stuff we'll see and do!
Rock Band?!?! (This would be a great place to use that interrobang punctuation mark!) I am so jealous! Was "Fortunate Son" on there? That would be really fun. And regarding my calves, I actually thought the same thing this morning (well, afternoon... but, my morning!). I thought "Hey, building walking endurance will really make Chicago a breeze!" I wish I had a scale or some other measuring device so I could see progress, though. I'll take it one step at a time, pun intended.
